This pair of Art Deco armoires was produced in Italy in the 1940s. The pictures on the doors are typical of Gio Ponti’s design, to which it is attributable.
The structure of the two wardrobes is in black lacquered wood and in particular, the sides are in ribbed wood. The doors are in parchment divided into 6 squares per door and two rectangles; a superior and an inferior one. On each of the central parchment panels there is one of the 12 signs of the zodiac, drawn by hand and covered in gold leaf.
The keyholes and the keys are in brass.
The maple interiors feature shelves in one of the armoires and a clothes hanger tube in his twins. This in particular, makes the pair extremely useful and versatile.
